Notes from the Track: After the Rain

$1,200.00

Notes from the Track: After the Rain captures the Australian bush at one of my favourite moments — just after a downpour, when everything feels refreshed and vibrant.

Inspired by walks along Sydney’s coastal fringes, I’ve layered lush greens, blush pinks, burgundy, ochre and deep blues to capture the tangle of foliage and bursts of wildflowers. I love the way the bush can feel almost unruly, with colour and movement everywhere you look. Loose, gestural marks echo cascading leaves, swaying grasses and water.

There is something about the bush after a drenching of rain: the colours seem brighter and more intense, the air feels denser and the landscape seems to come alive with a renewed energy. A good downpour is nature’s reset. “It is a beautiful thing to see the world wash its face in a summer shower and step out looking younger and brighter.” (Unknown).

Medium: Acrylic on canvas with oil pastel
Size: 90cm (H) x 90cm (W)
Hanging: beautifully framed in flooded gum, with wire and hooks for hanging
Signed: on front and back
