Jackson and Lee

$500.00

Set of 2 original signed artworks.

Acrylic on canvas, framed ready to hang.

Each work is 31cm (L) x 41cm (H)

These works are part of a series which explores the idea that we’re ’better together’. We each have our own unique traits and we can all stand on our own - but as a pair, matched with someone or something different from us, we have the capacity to create something even more powerful and more beautiful.

Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock married in 1945. Krasner was already an established abstract expressionist and heavily involved in the New York art scene. In an interview with the New York Times, Krasner said of their artistic influence on each other: “Look, we shared the bedroom, but not the studio, and we maintained a strict by-invitation-only discipline about going into each other’s studios.” However, to art historian Barbara Rose, they absolutely influenced each other considerably. “Pollock helped Krasner be free and spontaneous, whereas Krasner helped him be organised and refined”.
